Prevention Of Tire Emergencies

The two most important things to do to prevent tire emergencies:

USE OF TIRE DRESSINGS

In most cases, tire dressings are designed to improve the tire sidewall appearance & are not intended to prevent weathering. Chemical protectants in the tire's sidewall compound prevent degradation from ozone, UV light, & sunlight. This protection technology has been developed by Goodyear over many years & provides optimal weather protection during the tire's use. Use of alcohol-based or petroleum-based dressings may interfere chemically with this built-in protection. For this reason, tire manufacturers recommend using soap & water to clean your tires.

USE OF BLOCKS

The entire footprint of the tire should be supported by blocks, with no tread hanging over the sides. When the tread is unsupported, excessive stress is placed on the tire components.
