Hoosier Sports Car D.O.T. Radial Wet
tires were developed for drivers who participate in autocross &
road racing events in moderate to heavy rain. While all Hoosier
Sports Car D.O.T. Radial Wet tires have passed DOT requirements,
they feature a special tread compound to facilitate racing in wet
conditions. Due to this special compound, these tires are not
suitable for highway use as the expected miles of wear is greatly
reduced. On the outside, the
Sports Car D.O.T. Radial Wet tire features a tread compound proven
during years of Motorola/Grand-Am Cup endurance racing. This wet
weather compound is molded into a directional tread design &
features unique "Y-shaped" major circumferential & lateral tread
grooves. Through the initial portion of their life (between their
beginning tread depth of 8/32-inch & approximately 4/32-inch of
remaining tread depth), the walls of the tread grooves taper as the
tires wear. Through the remainder of their tread depth (between
4/32-inch tread depth & worn out), the walls are molded
vertically. This allows the tires to serve as full wet tires when
used at their original 8/32-inch tread depth, or intermediate wet
tires when shaved or worn to approximately 4/32-inch of remaining
tread depth due to the reduced tread squirm & increased footprint
contact area.
The Sports Car D.O.T. Radial Wet
tires have a symmetric internal construction & directional tread
design that allow them to be mounted for use on either side of the
car. They feature a three-ply nylon cord radial carcass reinforced
by two fiberglass belts & a spirally wound circumferential nylon
cap ply under the tread.
Hoosier Sports Car D.O.T. Radial Wet
tires feature an attractive, graphic sidewall design with black
letters & include a "rim recess" design on all sizes. They are
V-speed rated & available in 60-, 55-, 50-, 45-, 40-, 35- &
30-series sizes for 13" to 18" wheel diameters.
