Yokohama dB Super E-Spec

The dB Super E-spec is the flagship Grand Touring Summer tire of Yokohama's ecologically friendly lines. Developed for hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles, as well as for the drivers of small cars that want to enhance their vehicle's fuel economy without abandoning dry and wet traction, the dB Super E-spec tires are designed to be environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient. Like all summer tires, dB Super E-spec tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. The dB Super E-spec combines renewable orange oil with natural rubber to form Yokohama's Super Nano-Power Rubber (SNPR) compound to produce a tire that's 80% petrochemical free. The SNPR compound operates in dual modes that allow it to generate less heat and reduce rolling resistance during steady, straight driving, as well as enhance traction during active braking and cornering. This compound is molded into a subtly directional tread design tuned to combine low noise with dry traction. Circumferential grooves help resist hydroplaning and strategically placed tread sipes increase surface contact to enhance wet traction. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area while minimizing weight. The dB Super E-spec tires also feature an advanced lightweight inner liner that combines the elasticity of rubber with the lightness and superior gas-barrier characteristics of plastic. Only one-fifth as thick as conventional tire liners, the new liner material slows down escaping air molecules to more effectively retain tire inflation pressure while it reduces tire weight and rolling resistance.
