Pirelli Winter Sottozero
The Winter Sottozero tire is Pirelli's
"dual-season" Performance Winter tire that was developed to be
effective from mid-autumn until early spring by generating its
maximum performance on minimum grip surfaces in cold temperatures
compared to summer tires. Currently available in selected low
profile sizes, the Winter Sottozero tire is for the drivers of high
performance sport cars, coupes & sedans who don't let their
enthusiasm for driving cool off in winter.
The Winter Sottozero tread compound
utilizes cap & base technology that combines two different
compounds. The upper strata (cap) that comes into contact with the
road surface uses Pirelli's latest generation silanes to bind the
silica & polymer to provide greater stability during hard driving
in both wet & dry conditions, & the sub-strata in contact with
the casing (base) uses nano-composites (aluminum silicates)
dispersed throughout the polymer to provide stiffness to enhance
stability & driving precision. The tread compound is molded into
an asymmetric tread pattern divided into distinct inner & outer
elements to blend traction on snow-covered surfaces with drivability
on dry & wet roads. On the inside, they utilize Pirelli's
ultra-high performance tire structures to offer levels of
performance not normally associated with winter tires.
Pirelli Winter Sottozero Performance
Winter tires meet the industry’s severe snow service requirements
& are branded with the snowflake-on-the-mountain symbol. The
Winter Sottozero radials feature blackwall styling & are available
in H- & V-speed rated, selected 55-, 40-, 35- & 30-series sizes
for 16", 17" & 19" wheel diameters.
Install Pirelli Winter Sottozero
tires in sets of four only.
Due to the traction capabilities of
the Winter Sottozero tires, Pirelli recommends using Winter
Sottozero tires only in sets of four to provide the best handling
characteristics & tire performance.
