Initial Review, 50 Miles on Tires

"Spirited" is misleading. I drive it like I stole it....Admittedly, a Jetta is not the sportiest car out there. These tires (coilovers, camber plates and poly bushings, too) were an attempt to wake up its performance a bit. I had the opportunity to drive home in the rain immediately after they were installed. Wow! The car felt glued to the road, as if the pavement was dry! I have never had tires that performed so well in the wet, even very high-dollar models. I can't wait to try these on a wrm, dry day. Oh, yeah -- I'm curious about other reviewers' comments about noise. At 70mph, the car was no louder than with the el-cheapo, all-season tires that the car was sold with....I tried them on dry pavement: Excellent. They are not an R-compound tire by any means, but car control is incredible.

Initial Review, 3,000 Miles on Tires

These tires were already mounted on my Speed6 when I bought the car. This is my second Speed6 and the previous one had Pirelli PZero Nero's. The BFG's were superior in the warm weather conditions but as soon as the temperature dropped so did the traction. In late summer heat I was sticking to corners like a magnetic banshee on rails. I really enjoyed these tires, although the noise is a bit much as very slow speeds. When we got our annual snow/ice storm here in Atlanta my all wheel drive Speed6 was paralyzed with these tires. A year ago, in similar conditions with the same car and the Pirelli's I has no problem in the snow & ice. AS soon as the roads area cleared (it's been 4 days so far) I'll be installing something all season. I'll probably keep the summer tires and maybe mount them on a separate set of rims for when I want that super sticky feeling in summer.

Initial Review, 30,000 Miles on Tires
October 18, 2010

I just bought my 2nd set to put on after these wear out. I have reviewed these tires previously but wanted to follow up. The current set has around 30,000 miles on them now with absolutely no rotating and they have just now hit the wear bars on the tires. I'm still going to drive them a little longer but am starting to get nervous in the rain and with them wearing down past the wear bars. I have different size tires on the front than the rear and since these are directional I couldn't rotate. Not bad wear life on these at all considering what you get. They are pretty noisy as I wrote in my other review but that could be because of the 255 fronts and 295 rears. My new set is going to be a 245 front though to help prevent the "rail roading" that it does with the wide tires. It will tend to follow the grooves in the road.
