When first describing
Calvin Wan, a principal word could be multitasker. Calvin has already
had a long & varied career in motorsports, starting in 1996, & running
in such diverse series including drag racing, autocrossing, rally
crossing & motorcycles. Calvin also is a SAG (Screen Actors Guild)
member & has provided numerous stunt driving assignments for
television commercials, print ads & movies (including Fast & the
Furious: Tokyo Drift & Crank 2: High Voltage). He is a published
author, too, having written Calvin Wans Drifting Performance H&book,
which is distributed by Motorbooks International.
On the drifting front, the San Francisco native, who, like his
neighbor & team mate up the road, Tyler McQuarrie, has spent a fair
amount of time at Sonomas Infineon Raceway. He has competed in every
round of the Formula Drift Championship series since its augural
season in 2004, & has become a fan favorite due to his laid back style
& street image.. Falken Tires officials noticed his capabilities
during that first season & signed him to what has become a long-term
contract, making Calvin a full-time driver for the company, driving
Falken-owned works cars ever since.
In 2005, Calvin made history by becoming the first driver in the
Formula Drift series to win in an import car with the Falken Tire
Infiniti G35. He later moved to a Mazda RX-7, & for 2009, will be
piloting the new Falken Tire Nissan S15 Silvia, running on Falken
Azenis RT-615 rubber. In addition to this series, the multitasker will
be doing double duty in the Formula D International Demos & Team
Drifting Competition events.
The talented driver participates in more than 20 professional events
each year & has received extensive media coverage with both national &
international media outlets. When hes not driving, hes building race
cars or serving as both a Drifting Judge & Instructor, holding special
drifting performance clinics for private groups.
Drifting & race fans alike know the name Calvin Wan, & he is highly
regarded & respected by his competitors. As one of the pioneers in
drifting especially in the U.S., & one of the driving forces on Team
Falken, Calvin has definitely earned his reputation & st&s ready once
again to help take Team Falken to the top of the podium. |
