Brembo Gran Turismo Systems provide excellent stopping power in everyday traffic, as well as superior high performance street & track driving. They are designed to bolt onto the vehicle’s original suspension, & are fully compatible with the vehicle’s stock brake master cylinder & anti-lock braking system (ABS). While most Brembo Gran Turismo Brake System packages have been developed specifically to replace the vehicle’s front brakes (due to the high braking demands encountered there), rear brake systems are also offered for selected applications. For vehicles not offering a Gran Turismo System for the rear axle, Brembo Sport brake rotors (slotted or drilled) are available to replace the stock rotors on the rear axle & provide a matched appearance on all four corners of the vehicle. Gran Turismo Brake Systems packages combine high performance fixed aluminum brake calipers, large diameter 1- or 2-piece vented brake rotors, brake pads, stainless steel braided brake lines & aircraft quality mounting brackets & hardware. (See photo & chart below.) Brake caliper & rotor sizes are selected based on the vehicle’s requirements. In most cases, the aluminum calipers are available in red, sliver or black finishes. Additionally, the rotors feature plain, drilled, slotted, or drilled & slotted disc surfaces depending on the vehicle application & brake system selected. All cross-drilled holes are bi-angle chamfered at the rotor’s outer surfaces to help reduce the cracking caused by repeated, high stress, high temperature brake applications. The slots are angled to use the rotors’ direction of rotation to enhance their performance, which makes the rotors side-specific with left & right side rotors. Brembo Sport Pads Search by vehicle Brembo has developed a high performance, Italian-manufactured pad to enhance the performance of stock brake systems. This ultra high performance pad technology, optimized for the street, has resulted in Brembo Sport Pads gaining Original Equipment status on the Corvette Z06, Ford GT & others. To address the common brake dust & noise issues associated with typical high performance or race pads, Brembo created the Sport pads using FM1000-designated brake pad friction material. This material helps minimize the compromises of an aggressive high performance pad & results in acceptable dust & noise levels for every day pad use. The Brembo compound responds very favorably to aggressive use. The material actually improves after it has been through an initial high temperature heat cycle. The friction material is a proprietary compound developed specifically for the Brembo OE & high performance programs. It is capable of sustaining a high friction coefficient level over a wide temperature range & is designed for use in high performance on-road applications. The FM1000 pad is classified as an FG material by the SAE J661 standard. The F indicates that the average coefficient of friction is between 0.35 & 0.45 at or below 200° & the G indicates an average coefficient of friction between 0.45 & 0.55 up to 600°F. |
